Business of the Year

The Barclays business of the year award forms the hightlight of the EDP Business Awards ceremony where all shortlisted finalists get the chance to secure the coveted prize.
Last year’s winner Blue Sky Leisure impressed the judges with its diverse and successful range of businesses.
A family-owned leisure group with a long track record of delivering a high quality service to its customers, its brands are well-known in Norfolk and include the divisional trading businesses of Blue Sky Homes, Kelling Heath, Woodhill Park, Zaks American Restaurants, and Imagine Spa at Blofield Heath.

Award Criteria

This is the award of awards in the world of Norfolk business.
This accolade will go to the winner of winners – picked by the judges and not for separate entry.
Judges will look for a brand or organisation which has achieved great things in the last 12
They will assess the company’s brand profile within its customer audience, its financial standing, its community relations and its environmental sympathies.
Judges will particularly be looking for an organisation that Norfolk can be proud to have as an ambassador of working life in the county.

Winner: Natures Menu

Business of the Year 2014


Watton-based Natures Menu was crowned Barclays Business of the Year 2014 in this year’s EDP Business Awards.

The company, one of three businesses vying for the accolade, is a cat and dog food manufacturer employing 112 people and selling products direct to consumer and to 2750 pet stores throughout the UK and in 20 countries.
Its UK business base has become the model for its export strategy, with the business identifying target markets based on population, GDP and average income per household.
Since 2012 the export business has grown from £116,000 to £1m with contracts in place to see this rise to £2.5m next year.
The business exports to the Netherlands, Ireland, and Denmark, with new markets in Finland, Sweden, Croatia, and Greece, becoming active this year.
